Save the date! On Saturday 16th February we will be hosting our 6th annual Mark Ruddy Memorial 7s followed by a Club fundraising ‘Sports Quiz’ in the Fiddlers that evening at 8pm.
This 7s competition is always one to remember with a guaranteed afternoon of football and craic for everyone involved. Now is the time to start assembling your teams!
Remember that the main aim of the competition is participation and fun and therefore we would remind everyone to keep this in mind on the day!
Absolutely everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend and play, if you do not have a team then don’t worry as we always have several teams created on the day – some of which have been very successful.
Please read the information below for some ground rules about the competition:
- All players should arrive to the clubrooms at 12 O’Clock for registration when the group draws to be made. The first games will take place at 12.30pm.
- Everyone is welcome to play! Teams will be made up of a combination of Senior Men, Senior Ladies, Over 40s and Minors, and as far as possible will be grouped together in Townland/Location areas e.g. Glenavy, Crumlin, Ballinderry/Feumore, Crewe. A number of families/extended families have also indicated that they intend to enter a team – all entries are very welcome however do not be put off if you do not have a team before Saturday – come along at 12 O’clock on Saturday 16th and we will be arranging the rest of the teams on the day of the competition.
- Teams will have a minimum of one ladies player, one over 40s player, one minor player and the remainder of the team can be made up of any combination.
- Teams can have a maximum squad of 12
- Any player can only play for one team on the day – once your team has been eliminated, there can be no changing of players from one team to another.
- The final of the competition is planned on being played at 3.30pm to allow everyone plenty of time to get home and ready in time for Table Quiz in The Fiddler’s Inn that evening.
- All proceeds from the Sports Quiz will be in aid of the development of our teams for the 2019 season.
