Senior ladies narrowly miss out on Ulster title

Saturday was a day of bitter disapointment mixed with pride as our senior ladies missed out by the narrowest of margins to become Ulster Intermediate Champions. Nothing was left on the field of play and without doubt this was one of the proudest moments in our club’s history. The players, coaches and mentors can take heart from their endeavours. The whole of Glenavy is extremely proud of what they have achieved over the last few months and in the fullness of time we can look back with great joy. Seeing so much support in Carrickmore was testamount to the character of the panel and we all, especailly our younger players, will never forget the journey that our ladies brought us on. An inspiration to all.

Congratulations to Player of the Year, Natasha O’Neill. Young Player of the Year Cara McGarry. And to Phoebe Higgins and Katie O’Neill as most improved! Thoroughly deserved!

Thank you to the coaches, Mickey, Chris and Neil for the hard work and committment shown over the last few years. Reaching a final like this is testament to your endeavours. Thanks to Marianne, Collette, Tyrone, Anna and all others who have helped support behind the scenes.

Thanks to the Saffron Gael for their great coverage and to Bert Trowlen, as always, for documenting this campagin.

Finally, a big thanks to all of our travelling supporters for adding to the occasion. Time for a bit of a break!
