Tir na nÓg claim the league points and progress to the next round of the McCormick Cup.

The game was played on a beautiful summer evening in front of very few spectators. Both sides deserve a word of praise for the entertainment they served up. The home side got off to a great start with minor player Fergal Henry slotting over two excellent points.  Leigh Martin pulled a point back for the visitors. Niall McCann and Fergal Henry extended their side’s lead with points.

The White Hill side then went on a scoring spree with 1.06 from Eamon Og McAllister with a goal and  2 points (1 Free), Leigh Martin with 2 (1free), Dara Fagin with 2,  to leave the score 1.07 v 0.04. Johnny Phillips pulled a point back only to see it cancelled out by a Daniel Hastings point. The lough view men closed out the half with Gerard Hamilton getting a goal and point. Conor Mulholland came up from corner back and showed the forwards how to take a point to close the gap to the minimum. Half time score Glenavy 1.07 v 1.08.Tir na nÓg.

Randalstown started the second half four unanswered points from Kevin Coogan and Daniel Fagin. Leigh Martin kept up his scoring with a point from play and a pointed free to leave his side five in front. Fergal Henry and Johnny Phillips pulled two back but when Michael Toal pounced to score a goal the visitors were on a high. To their credit the young home side didn’t throw in the towel with Niall McCann adding to the home side’s score. Leigh Martin extended the lead for the side in blue. Lorcan Hennan pounced on a loose ball to find the back of the net. Fergal Henry  had Glenavy’s final scores with a pointed free and one from play to close the gap to one. With time running out Leigh Martin and Daniel Fagin had the final scores to leave Tir na nÓg winning on a score 2.15 to 2.12.
